Junior Golf

Kathy is an avid supporter of junior golfers. Beginning in 2002 to present Kathy has maintained the leadership role of tournament director for The Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship. The Championship began in 1971 for junior girl golfers between the ages of 13-23. It is one of the largest junior girls golf tournaments in the US.

Kathy offers ‘FUN’ development programs for juniors of all ages, based upon principles of the Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD) Program. The LTAD program states there is an optimal time for a junior to learn fundamental movement skills, speed, stamina, sport skills, strength & suppleness (flexibility). If sport specific skills are taught too early, before fundamental movement skills, challenges such as injury or early ‘burn out' may occur. This is based upon a child’s developmental age. Kathy will take the junior through a quick screening to assess what level they are at.
